Product Description

Impervious Solutions stocks some of the best Liquid rubber, polyurethane and acrylic based membranes from Sika, Ardex, Tremco & Gripset range of products.

Proper substrate preparation is key to achieve a surface that is 100% impervious.

If the substrate requires screed we recommend applying the membrane both below and over.

At Impervious Solutions we lease with tiler contractors to ensure screed mixture is compatible with the type of product we are applying.

There is no single membrane that can be used in all situations. Call us now for an inspection so we can advise you with the best product for your project.

Use:

Showers, bathroom floors, balconies and other wet areas.

We stock Sikatite BE as our preferred bitumen product.

Use:

Retaining walls, cellars and basements, planter boxes, ponds, tanks and water features, gutter repairs, roofing and silos.

Characteristics and advantages include:

  • Water based, free of solvents and toxins.
  • Excellent waterproofing properties.
  • Can be used in varying thicknesses.
  • Excellent bonding capabilities.
  • Can be applied to damp surfaces.
  • Can be mixed with sand/cement to improve adhesion, tensile strength, flexibility, sound dampening and to create falls.
  • Approved for use in potable water (AS4020:1999)
  • Can be painted or coated over.
  • Easy to apply and work with.
  • Can be applied to a wide range of substrates.

Sheet membranes are Self-adhering, simple peel-and-stick application.

Use:

Below grade, rooftop gardens, planter boxes and balconies.

Advantages:

A better seal

The most important requirement of a membrane is that it provides a 100% seal. Even the tiniest gap can completely compromise a wet room, as water will inevitably find the gap and cause leaks. As the wet room floor is the area most susceptible to water pooling and leaks, it requires the most robust waterproofing solution. Sheet membrane has the advantage over liquid membrane of making it very easy to see where the membrane is. When you’re painting a liquid membrane, you can inadvertently create gaps in the seal while sheet membrane can be cut exactly to size.

Increased productivity

In addition, sheet membranes have the advantage of a protective backing on both sides that will allow you to keep working in the space even while the membrane is bonding to the substrate. When you’re installing bathrooms and shower floors on large, commercial projects, productivity is essential. You need everyone working as efficiently as possible. In addition, the backing paper ensures that the membrane remains dust free throughout the installation process. The problem with liquid membranes is that they can take up to 24 hours to dry depending on the room temperature. During this time, the wet room space can’t be accessed without compromising the seal. This means that electricians, tilers or other workers can’t carry out their work while the membrane is drying.

Sound proofing

Unlike other waterproofing systems, sheet membranes act as acoustic barrier, improving the sound impact insulation properties of a wet room by 11db. This is particularly beneficial in properties such as flats and apartment blocks, where the membrane will help reduce sound travelling through to the floors below.

Ready to tile immediately

Thanks to the design of a sheet membrane, the bathroom is ready to tile as soon as the membrane is installed, unlike liquid membranes. This makes it ideal for fast track construction on large projects.

Factory-controlled thickness

Whether you’re installing onto concrete or timber floors, the thickness of the waterproofing membrane needs to be consistent to ensure it provides a fully waterproof base prior to tiling. Applying a liquid membrane rather than a sheet membrane can often result in an uneven layer and determining the thickness can be time consuming. Sheet membrane has uniform thickness, giving you total peace of mind that applied correctly it will be watertight.

PVC waterproofing membrane is a modern roofing material, which is made of high quality flexible (plasticized) polyvinyl-chloride and it is mainly used in roofs.

  • Vapor permeability at 100% water resistance;
  • Resistance to wind loads;
  • Frost-proof;
  • Resistant to changes in temperature;
  • Precision in the execution of complex elements;
  • Resistance to the movements of structural elements of buildings;

Bentonite works by forming a continuous membrane upon hydration with water. When confined under pressure, the swell is controlled, forming a dense, positive seal against the concrete.

Use:

Retaining walls

Advantages:

A great benefit of bentonite membranes is that they have the ability to self heal when punctured, can swell to fill gaps caused by building movement and they can migrate into the pores of the substrate.

High pressure spray applied membranes (Polyurea & hybrid polyurethane)
